I hope you had a fantastic National Get-a-Life Week, and I am certain that you had a lot of fun. But when you’re not having a great time or celebrating everyone else’s win, there is still important stuff you have to do at work.
So allow me to borrow some of my friend Jenny Levine’s favorite things to say to herself when she has a challenge at work:
1. I’ll do that tomorrow.
2. But let’s do it this afternoon.
3. Tomorrow, at a reasonable hour, will be able to fit in this problem.
4. If I am angry at someone, I could probably have handled this differently. But right now I’m focused on solving the problem.
5. When I do accomplish this, I’ll rest even more.
I practice these tools every day at work. I find that it helps me stay focused and think clearly. I am very grateful to be able to do this.
I hope you feel the same way.
Now please accept a very special welcome to Jenna Fischer! And happy Monday!
