Actress Mayim Bialik recently gave a candid interview about growing up in a Democratic family, in which she and her parents revealed more details about the 2016 election, and her personal views on the decision not to support Hillary Clinton, which sparked a rather heated conversation with her co-star on The Big Bang Theory. While promoting her memoir Beyond the Sling, Mayim explained to W Magazine why she broke with the Hollywood political scene by not voting for Clinton.
“I didn’t say I wasn’t for her. I don’t go around saying, ‘This is how you get to go to Disney World,’ and then regretting it later on. It was the only way I felt that I could vote with an authentically Jewish point of view,” she said. “I also feel that even when a big decision comes along that is intellectually challenging, morally sound, and doesn’t feel like a cop-out, it’s just not my turn,” Bialik said.
While she may not vote for a presidential candidate from either party, Bialik has no doubts about the makeup of the next administration should Hillary Clinton lose. “I think for the first time in my life, I don’t feel afraid of Trump’s ascension to power,” she told W. “I just feel relieved.”
